Claim Your Metin2 Server Listing with Website Verification

Claim your Metin2 server listing using a website verification file or meta tag. Fix cache and access problems, then keep your profile accurate and secure.

Find the existing listing before submitting another

Your Metin2 server may already have a directory profile, even if you did not add it yourself. Claiming that profile connects its management to your account after you demonstrate control of the listed website. Start with the server claim search and compare the result with your project's official name and website. Similar names alone are not enough: check that you are looking at the same game world, rather than an older project or an unrelated server.

If the correct profile exists, claim it instead of creating a duplicate. If no matching listing exists, use server submission. Before continuing, make sure you can publish a small change on the website recorded in the profile. A Discord moderator role, access to a game account or possession of a banner does not provide the website control required by this verification process.

Generate a token from the account that will manage the server

Sign in with the METIN2.GG account you intend to use for ongoing listing management. Open the selected server's claim workflow and generate its verification token. The token belongs to that claim and expires 24 hours after generation. Copy the complete value from the panel; do not shorten it, change its letters or substitute a token from another server. If the current token has expired, generate a replacement and update the website before checking again.

Choose who should hold the management account before starting, particularly when a developer or hosting provider will install the verification material for you. They can publish the supplied file or tag without receiving your sign-in link or email credentials. If the system reports that another user has already claimed the listing, stop and resolve the account situation through support. Include the profile and official website so the problem can be investigated without creating competing records.

Option one: publish the verification text file

The file method uses the exact path /.well-known/metin2gg-verify.txt on the listed website's origin. That means the protocol, hostname and port identify the website, while the file path starts at its root. If your homepage is inside a language folder or another subdirectory, the verification file still belongs at the root path above. Use the verification URL shown in the claim panel when checking your installation.

Create a plain text file containing only the complete token supplied by the panel. Leading or trailing whitespace is accepted, but explanations, HTML, quotation marks and additional tokens are not. Some hosting tools hide filenames beginning with a dot, so confirm that the folder is really named .well-known. Open the published URL while signed out and inspect its contents. A successful upload in your hosting dashboard is insufficient if the public URL still returns a missing-page template or the normal homepage.

Option two: add a meta tag to the website HTML

If your hosting setup makes the text file awkward to publish, use the alternative meta tag. Add a meta element whose name attribute is metin2gg-verify and whose content attribute is the exact token from the claim panel. Place it inside the document's head, then publish the change. You only need one working verification method; installing both is unnecessary.

The verifier reads the HTML response from the website URL recorded in the listing. A tag that appears only after browser JavaScript runs may therefore be missing from that response. Check the page source returned by your website, rather than relying solely on the browser's live element inspector. If your site has multiple language layouts, make sure the tag is present on the page the listed URL actually serves. A tag inside a blog article, footer or unrelated administrative page will not satisfy the homepage check.

Troubleshoot caching, redirects and access restrictions

After publishing, return to the panel and run verification. If the token cannot be found, check the public response before repeatedly pressing the button. A CDN may still serve an older homepage or a cached missing-file response. Purge the affected URL through your normal hosting controls, confirm the new response is visible while signed out, and retry. The claim check allows one verification attempt per user and server every 30 seconds, so use that interval to investigate the response.

Check whether the listing uses a different hostname, such as the version with or without www. Redirects can also send visitors to a different page than expected. Password protection, maintenance screens and firewall challenges may prevent automated access even when the page works in your browser. The checker identifies itself as Metin2GG-ClaimVerifier/1.0. Review relevant access logs and use a narrow hosting rule if needed; do not remove your site's security protections wholesale to complete a claim.

Confirm ownership, then keep the account secure

Treat verification as complete when the panel confirms ownership. Seeing the token on your own website proves that you published it, but it does not by itself confirm that the claim was saved successfully. After success, refresh the panel and check that the server shows its verified state. The verification token is cleared from the active claim when ownership is confirmed; you can remove the temporary file or meta tag once you have checked the result.

The token is intentionally published on a public website, so it is not a password for your game, hosting account or database. Never put those credentials into the verification file. METIN2.GG supports passwordless email sign-in, so keep login links private. Secure the recovery mailbox with a unique password and your email provider's multifactor authentication, and avoid sharing sign-in access across temporary contractors. When staff responsibilities change, review who can modify both the directory account and the server website. Continued website control matters beyond this one verification step.

Use the claimed profile to give players accurate information

Once ownership is verified, use the panel to submit corrections to the listing. Prioritize facts players need to choose a server: the official website, progression rates, supported languages, launch information and a representative banner. Explain what your project actually offers instead of copying another server's description. Review the profile after a relaunch, major progression update or website migration so an old statement does not become an accidental promise.

Ownership verification establishes website control for listing management. It does not independently certify player population, game stability, item-shop fairness or every promotional claim. Keep those distinctions clear in your own copy. Read how the ranking works before describing vote totals, and consult the separate vote rewards information if you want to understand that feature. A useful claimed listing combines a reachable official website with specific, current details that players can check for themselves.

A backlink is a separate choice from ownership verification. A published, online listing with a visible backlink to METIN2.GG can receive 100 free directory votes once per UTC calendar day after a successful scheduled check. These are promotional directory votes, not votes from individual players or in-game rewards. A currently verified backlink also unlocks animated GIF, WebM and MP4 banners; animation requires a positive check within the previous 72 hours. Vote Rewards API access additionally requires verified ownership and the partner setup. The submission form and owner panel provide the link snippet and verification instructions. Sponsored and nofollow links qualify, and manually checking a backlink does not grant another daily bonus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need both a verification file and a meta tag?
No. Publish either the text file at the required root path or the meta tag in the head of the HTML returned by the listed website URL. One matching method is enough.
Why does my verification token fail even though I uploaded it?
Check the public URL, exact token, expiry and response contents. Common causes include a cached response, an incorrect folder, a homepage rewrite, a JavaScript-only tag or an access challenge.
How long is the claim token valid?
A token expires 24 hours after generation. Generate a replacement after expiry, publish the new value and then run verification again.
Can I claim a server using only Discord or game administrator access?
The automated process requires a matching token on the website recorded in the listing. If that website is incorrect or another account already holds the claim, contact support with the affected profile and official website.
Does verified ownership mean the server is recommended?
No. It confirms website control for listing management. It does not establish gameplay quality, population, payment fairness or future availability.
