Which elemental resistance do you need in Metin2?
Choose fire, lightning or wind resistance for Metin2 PvM. Check named monsters, compare gear and avoid applying official-server advice blindly to private servers.
The short answer: match the monster before buying gear
For the official Gameforge version of Metin2, fire resistance is worth checking for Spider Dungeon 2 enemies, lightning resistance for Setaou enemies, and wind resistance for the forest enemies listed in the wiki's wind category. Treat these as starting points: look up the exact monster you fight before buying a resistance set. A map name alone does not prove that every enemy or attack there works the same way.
This guide explains how to make that choice from the official wiki and then compare equipment in your own farming spot. On a private server, confirm the server's current mechanics first: familiar maps and familiar item names do not guarantee the official rules.

Fire, lightning and wind: where to start your lookup
The official wiki maintains separate lists of monsters against which each resistance is effective. Use those lists to confirm a target, rather than choosing an element from its appearance.
| Resistance | Named examples to check | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Fire | Claw Poison Spider SD2, Soldier Poison Spider SD2, Razador | Official fire-resistance list |
| Lightning | Setaou Archer, Setaou Fighter, Beran-Setaou | Official lightning-resistance list |
| Wind | En-Tai Druid, En-Tai Guardian, En-Tai Soldier | Official wind-resistance list |
Open the monster entry from the category and compare its name and location with your target. For example, Beran-Setaou's entry identifies the Dragon's Temple and lightning resistance. That is a specific source for this boss; it is not a complete build recommendation for the whole dungeon.
Compare the whole item, not one resistance line
A resistance upgrade can still be a poor purchase if the replacement removes other bonuses you rely on. Before spending Yang, write down what changes: the relevant resistance, HP, damage-related bonuses, other defensive lines and the price. Separate the problem you want to solve: dying during a pull, using too many potions, or killing too slowly.
The official necklace table gives a simple example: Wooden Necklace has fire resistance, Copper Necklace has lightning resistance, and Silver Necklace has wind resistance. This illustrates why a necklace suited to one opponent may be the wrong comparison item for another. It does not make any of these items universally best.
Compare actual items at the upgrade level and with the bonuses you can obtain. Do not copy an expensive endgame set when your immediate goal is surviving one repeatable farming route. First establish which change helps that route, then decide whether its cost is justified.
How much resistance is enough? Test your actual setup
There is no single target percentage this guide can responsibly give for every class, room and server. A number from a forum post may describe a different character, monster variant, patch or private-server formula. Nor does a displayed resistance percentage alone establish an identical reduction in all incoming damage.
Use a controlled comparison before committing to a costly set:
- Choose one named enemy and a manageable group size in the same location.
- Record your equipped items, active buffs, potions and visible resistance.
- Keep those conditions as similar as possible and change only the item or bonus being compared.
- Repeat several pulls. Note damage spikes, potion use, deaths and clearing time; do not judge from a single hit.
- If the result is unclear, repeat the comparison before buying more equipment.
This is a suggested testing procedure, not a claim that we measured a particular build. If a swap also changes HP, defence or damage, you are comparing two complete setups; you cannot attribute the result solely to elemental resistance.
When resistance seems to do nothing
First check whether you selected the right monster entry, including its variant. Then check whether the item is equipped and the expected bonus is actually active. Compare normal pulls separately from a boss encounter or a visibly different attack. A useful result against one opponent does not establish protection against every source of damage.
Do not confuse a bonus that increases your outgoing elemental damage with resistance intended for incoming damage. Read the exact item description. Likewise, a wiki category about monsters does not establish how the same stat behaves against player skills in PvP.
On a private server, read its bonus descriptions, wiki and patch notes. If they are unclear, ask which resistance works against your target, which items provide it, and whether the rules changed recently. A reply such as 'use the official build' does not tell you how resistance works on that server.
A shopping checklist you can use before your next run
- Name the enemy and the current server version.
- Verify the matching element in the appropriate official source or private-server documentation.
- Compare the complete item, including the bonuses you lose.
- Test with similar pulls and unchanged buffs.
- Spend more only when the comparison solves your actual survival or clearing problem.
When comparing PvM servers, check whether their documentation explains these systems before investing in a specialised set. Consistent names and clear patch notes make gearing decisions easier; a server's listing or votes alone cannot establish its combat formulas.
